What I Like About Winter

If I had to pick one season to live in all the time, it would definitely not be winter. But reality is I love all the seasons. Living in Ontario, Canada, we're lucky to get all four seasons and it's hard for me to decide if I like spring more, summer, or the gorgeous fall, in all of which the outdoors are just amazing and you really can't wait to spend more time outside.  Well, to add some contrast, that is exactly the reason why I appreciate winter in some way, because I don't feel the daily urge to be outside for hours and hence feel I can focus more on getting work done,  whether it's painting, reading, planning etc. It is my guilt-free season for staying inside longer and being efficient doing things.

It would be nice if we could keep the longer daylight as that is a bit of a bummer especially because I really enjoy painting during daylight. And it would certainly be nice if the winters here were shorter! But there are always pros and cons in life.  And maybe this is my way of accepting the long-ish winter here. We can always try our the best of what we have - right ?

Just like these weeks, as I am getting ready for the Artist Project 2019 Art Fair - my priorities don't compete as much between long outdoor walks and finishing up a lot of paintings and logistics for the show

The good thing is that regardless of the cold out there, I can continue to keep my color palettes colorful and interesting so the studio is a color wonderland and a good contrast to the minimalist gray and white colors outdoors at this time.  I know you artists out there experiencing long winters can relate.

Below is some colorful inspiration to beat the winter blues.

And come and see me and many of my brand new works at Artist Project (booth #139) if you are around Toronto during Feb 21 - 24.  Would love to meet you there!
